If your Canon Pixma iP1800 printer is low on ink, you can refill the ink cartridge yourself to avoid having to purchase new cartridges. If you choose to do this, you will also need to manually reset the ink setting of your printer. This is a simple procedure that should take you no more than 15 minutes to complete. This procedure works for both the color and black ink cartridges.
). Place a strip of tape over the contact pads on the top row of the cartridge.
). Place the ink cartridge into the printer and then remove it once you receive the "Cartridge Not Inserted" message.
). Place a strip of tape over the contact pads on the second top row. Do not remove the first strip of tape.
). Place the ink cartridge into the printer and then remove it once you receive the "Cartridge Not Inserted" message.
